Your Name:

Emily Gavilsky

What do you do?

I’m an event designer/coordinator, boutique rental company owner, grant writer, and nonprofit consultant! I own Emily Anna Events which encompasses all of my event planning & nonprofit consulting. I also own Renown Rentals, which is a boutique rental company for special events here in STL.

What prompted you to take part in the UNDEFINED project?

A friend tagged me in Kaylen’s post & I knew I had to be involved. I love anything that promotes strong, positive women, and I knew this would be an opportunity to connect with other badass women and push myself outside of my comfort zone!

What stereotyping have you faced in your career, and how have you handled it?

I’ve always been in female-dominated industries (I was previously a mental health therapist/counselor and now I’m in the event industry) so I always felt really supported in my workplaces, mainly by other women and consider myself really fortunate for that experience. It’s part of why I’ll probably never join “corporate America.”

Where can people find out more about you/what you do?

People can find me at www.emilyanna.com, www.renownrentals.com

On Facebook under @emilyannaevents, @renownrentals & on Instagram as @emilyannaevents & @renownrentals

The UNDEFINED project explores and is a response to sexism in local media, for more information see our original post on the project. UNDEFINED will be on display at SOHA gallery in January 2017, visit the Facebook event page for more information on the show.
